10 feet away from someone who trips I don't think warrants running over to checking when even you had no idea it was a serious injury. If there was a lot of blood or it was right next to someone, I'd feel differently.

OP here - to be honest, I was just disappointed. I had heard that this is a great Principal who attends so many school functions. Just thought, "What's the point if you don't show that you care a little?"
At DC's old school, the Principal herself administered the Epipen when a child had an allergen ingestion - despite the child not having any symptoms. She did not just stand around and chat. (Obviously a potentially much more serious situation, but still...)

OP, I would absolutely hope that a principal who was nearby and simply chatting rather than handling an issue would inquire after the child. Even if it wasn't a clearly serious injury. It is simply human.

It amazes me how sarcastic and bitter people on this forum are.

Just to answer some prior questions:

- it happened at an AAP center, hence the post on this forum
- I wouldn't waste my time posting an honest question and then turn around and pretend to be someone else using crude language
- I would expect a Principal or any school administrator/teacher to be concerned about a child who is hurt at one of their events - it doesn't take much to walk over to a child and ask if he/she is ok. For those of you who have made crass remarks, I sure hope someone cares about your children.

Did you expect the principal to cancel the weekend school function which was attended by hundreds of parents for such a minor injury?

Or did you think principal should have ordered for counselors to talk to all the kids who witnessed this incident?

A kid had a minor ankle injury. I would not expect a busy principal to come running, no.

Even you acknowledged that you couldn't predict the trips to the ER we necessary. Sprains aren't visible injuries. I think you're reading too much into it.

Fell as in "ouch", with a bruise or a scrape? Or fell and broke an arm? There's a huge difference. I think in general it would be nice for a principal to check into a kid who fell down went boom in his close vicinity, but I certainly don't think it is imperative assuming he/she is busy and there are other adults also supervising.

He/she was standing about 10 feet away from the student for quite some time and knew there had been an injury. What's the point of being the Principal of a "great" school if you don't show that you care?
