I'm sorry to hear that.

However, when you have 3 kids, it's an entirely different ballgame.

I can eat scraps out of a trash can...I can go hungry...I can eat bread, rice and beans. My children, however? That's what kills me.

We're not financially irresponsible. We've just had a lot of really bad luck lately, and very little savings to get us through.

Go get food assistance. Please. I understand it might not fix everything but it will at least get some food in the house

You can get emergency food assistance in the form of food stamps almost immediately in your situation. Go get them. Don't be ashamed. Your children need to see strength and feeding them no matter what is what counts.

We have $150 to last until May 15. That has to cover gas, food, everything. We have three kids. And currently no food in the house. It's hard not get really, really depressed.

What do you do when the times get really tough? Other than the spouses try not to kill each other.

I'll send you a $100. Can you post an email I can contact you at?

That really is very kind of you to offer. Despite how desperate we need it, it feels really weird to accept money from complete a complete stranger.

To answer a few of your questions: if we had close family to turn to, or close friends, we would. DH's parents have passed away and my parents are financially completely unable. If we had available credit cards, we would use them. I'm just at a loss for what to do.

Does it mean you have $150 cash or you have $150 available credit on your cards?
I've been minus $40k while making only $20k a year, no space on cards, but never missed a minimum payment.I'm sure many have been in deeper hole.
Can you sell something?

Yes, OP, this.

If you are in lower MoCo, go to Saint Luke Lutheran Church in Silver Spring. They will give you some groceries from the food pantry.

Honestly, when things were at there worst, I exercised a lot. Running helped me keep my sanity and also gave me a sense of accomplishment and confidence when everything else was going wrong. You will get through it.

In the meantime, dried beans and rice. Sale cans of veggies. Eggs are also a cheap protein. Aldi probably has the best prices on all of these around.

I was on food stamps, unemployment and still visited a food bank. I could barely talk to anyone be cause I couldn't think if anything other than money I needed but didn't have and a job I needed but couldn't get.

By that point I had completely ruined my near perfect credit by charging all I could so as to leave cash available for rent. I couldn't go to my volunteer gig b/c I couldn't afford to get there. Totally been there OP. I'm sorry you're there now.

OP, I am so sorry; I can't say I've ever been in a similar situation. Do you have a credit card you can put gas and groceries on?
