If you can get a nicer house because of the "busy street" discount and the noise level is fine to you and your family, go for it, just know it limits the upside when you sell. No garage is tough for resale. Very nice house by us with no garage has been sitting for two months, houses on busy roads still sell. Way too many absolutists on this board.
