This! It's not, "hey, look, Jennifer Aniston is playing a stripper!"

I will always remember her incredible performance in "Elizabeth," because it was so superb. And I will also always remember her role in "Veronica Guerin," because she overacted so badly. I usually think she's terrific but "Veronica Guerin," not so much.

I'm not much of a movie goer but I saw her in several plays and she is amazing.

She was covered head to toe in CSI gear for her cameo in Hot Fuzz. I just think she's great! I also love Kate winslet and Kate Beckinsdale. Great crop of Kates/Cates in my generation!

That's the sign of a great actress!!

She has you believing the character that you don't notice 'hey-that's Cate' like I do with most other big name Hollywood actors/actresses.

I think that us because she isn't a celeb in the tabloids for being just a celeb. She just becomes her character much like Meryl Streep ( who is of course much more famous). I love cate blanchett especially in blue jasmine, talented mr ripely and Benjamin Button

OP, I totally agree with you. Another similar actor for me is Colin Farrell. I watched this terrific movie called The Way Back. I didn't even realize it was him (even though I love him) until I IMDBd it.

I love her.
Perhaps the OP is trying to remember when she was a leading actress or in a memorable role when, on the contrary, I think of her as the supporting role, or an understated role.
I think she is fabulous, though; not overly beautiful, but pretty; fashionable (in real life) and well poised.

I can't be the only one, but I can't remember a single movie with her. But I just scrolled her IMDB and I've seen most of the movies. So weird.
