I bought that cupcake tree thing and it really looks great - I had the same reservations at first, but it looks great with food on it - I get loads of compliments when I display things on that.

Personally, I'd make the cupcakes (since I agree that most are way too big) - this recipe is amazing:

I know we rented a tree from Fluffy Thoughts in McLean and their cupcakes are reasonably sized. I also love the cupcakes at Bakeshop in Clarendon.

I've been tasked with dessert duty for a church gathering after First Communion for 40 kids. I'm looking for recommendations for places to buy good-tasting and good-size cupcakes (so Costco is out because they're huge). And any creative way to display the cupcakes (with some height) other than buying the Wilton-type cupcake tree thing (which seems a bit cheap and flimsy to me)? Thanks!
