We lived on Foxhall for years and never had an issue. You stop talking when you are outside if it's loud. You admire the planes with your kids. No big deal.

I understand renting sight unseen but buying?

The plane noise is insufferable. I am renting a place for one year and counting down the days until the lease expires. A plane goes by every 3 minutes sometimes every 30 seconds. It is torture. I have had to move into the basement of a house where I am paying $6300 per month rent just because that is the only place where the plane noise is a little less

cute neighborhood we always liked and would go to open houses there but post-2014 NextGen it became a problem. Like PPs have said, we sat outside and inside there one summer and heard the intense noise what felt like every 30-90 seconds, not a whole lot better than being at Gravelly Point which our kids used to enjoy. Everyone has different standards, but for us it was so disruptive that it'd ruin any outside BBQ party or kids play time. And the growing literature on airborne aerosolized jet fuel exhaust falling to the ground these days is something we werent following but that sounds convincing

I agree with this- it's very individual but for the most part I don't think it bothers the majority of people. I am extremely sensitive to noise and a very light sleeper, and the noise doesn't bother me at all.

The closer to where McArthur and Foxhall cross and the closer you are to the river the louder it will be. The quietest part is the one closest to Reservoir and the park. Essentially the more north east you go the better it should be.

We live further away from this flight path and also only notice the noise when it's cloudy, but we can hear it inside the house on those days. But I've been in neighborhoods closer to this flight path (not Foxhall Village though) and in some blocks it sounds like a 747 is landing on top of you, and in some blocks it's much more tolerable. I guess I'm just chiming in to say the noise can be confined to a smaller area than just a neighborhood. You really need to know what it's like at the exact address, IME. I would be very wary to live right under this flight path on either the DC or Arlington side of the river.

I sleep better and have less anxiety. But, I’m very sensitive to noise and apparently our dog was as well. He has calmed considerably since moving.

Depends on where you live in Foxhall. I’m right on the flight path living on Foxhall road itself and Frankly the noise Is unbearable. A place flies by every 2.5 mins on average well into 2 am. Thank heavens I’m renting and can move out.

We live in Foxhall Village, the only time we ever notice the planes is when it's cloudy outside (they fly lower when it's cloudy) and we happen to be in the backyard when one goes by. I would definitely not hesitate to move here based on plane traffic, it hasn't bothered us in the least.

I lived in the Palisades for several years. The airplane noise was steady day-to-day. It did not bother me, but I wasn't home a lot either.

We lived in foxhall for two years directly under nationals flight path. Not a big deal. We noticed it when we were on the deck and that's it. They also shut down flights in at a pretty reasonable hour (can't remember when, but it was never something we worries about)

We are very interested in buying a house in foxhall village, but are concerned about aircraft noise.

Most news reports quote residents saying "It's there, but you get used to it," which sounds fine to us. But, there seem to be at least some public health studies that suggest that long-term exposure to noise levels over 60 decibels can have negative health impacts, on concentration, reading ability (among children), etc.

We are moving in from out of town so can't just spend a few days there deciding for ourselves.

Are there areas within foxhall village that are better/worse? Is the noise a constant thing, or present some days an absent others? We recall having noticed it much more on one day we visited than another day.

Any thoughts/advice/guidance would be greatly appreciated.
