Going to the gym for five days will do very, very little for your weight. What are you eating every day? Look at your food intake and you'll find your answer. You feel better when you work out so keep doing it. Just don't think it's any kind of magic for weight loss - it simply is it.
Me too! Gaining muscle is hard work! I'd love it when this over used reasoning for weight gain goes away. OP one week doesn't mean anything. I fluctuate up to 5 lbs daily. Work out because you like to be healthy and reap the benefits. By the way, I started lifiting weights and working out intensely when I was 230lbs and GAINED 5 pounds almost right away so i know how you feel. I couldn't understand how I was so big and not dropping it easily, but I kept at it. 6 months later I was down 60lbs and I have a great set of arms, abs, and quads. More importantly I'm really fit. That's more important to me than what I weight anyway. Just keep at it.
Thanks! I will keep at it. It's took everything for me to not go to the gym today. That slight soreness after a workout feels soooo good because you know you've done something good for your body. BUT my muscles also need to relax so I'm forcing this break today .
Tomorrow I will be back at it !

and you WILL see results if you stick to it. Why do you need to see them immediately? Are you planning to stop if you don't? Here's some homework for you--write down a list of 10 reasons that eating well and exercising will benefit your life even if it doesn't change your body. Put it somewhere you can see it daily (bathroom? Over your dresser?) and remember that your body is more than just a shell.
Anonymous wrote:What are you doing wrong? Stepping on the scale after 1 week and expecting a Biggest Loser style dramatic weight loss. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was your body weight. You can gain 2.6 lbs in one day anyway, it has so much more to do than body fat and muscle--salt, water, poop, menstrual cycle.
Weigh yourself once a month. That's it. Take tape measure measurements now and once a month also.
Hang in there...it's a long road. You can do it!

SO I went to the gym 5 days this week. FIVE! I went last Saturday...Sunday...Tuesday...Thursday...then TODAY.
I stood on the scale and realized I've gained .6 pounds since last Saturday!
I did an hour of cardio on the elliptical every single time I went. I also worked on machines that worked out my legs and arms/lower back. Today I did crunches for the first time.
I know you're not suppose to rely on the scale but on the way you feel and clothing fit in order to determine weight loss, as muscle weighs more than fat so I could've gained muscle during the week.
On the other hand, the first few pounds are supposed to drop quickly. So what in the world???
I may be pre-menstrual. My cycle starts at the very end of the month and in the days leading up to it, I get bloated.
Please HELP! What am I doing wrong? I haven't been overeating and actually skipped lunch a few days this week by snacking through it (apples, grapes, crackers and cheese) so it can't be that I gorged on food. However, I am nearly obsessed with bottled ice teas and probably drank them more than water this week.
And ideas? Advice?
