Op you don't seem like a nice person. I hope my friends don't secretly judge all of my life decisions. And BTW you have NO idea if they would rather see the nanny at their game...maybe they love their nanny and look forward to seeing her? Seems like such an odd judgement claiming no child should love anyone or accept anyone besides mom??

Because rich moms don't want to watch their kid's no matter what the age. They golf, tennis, country club or do lunches. No time for kids or their sports. If they can pay a nanny to be a mom for them, all the better. Have you seen the movie, The Help. Those moms are just like the ones around here.

But just like in the movie, they are better off being raised by nannies. Hopefully they won't turn out so self centered.

OP here. I do have twins, as a matter of fact, of the opposite sex who play on different sports teams. When one has an away game and one has a home game, I go to the home game and tell the other twin I can't make it. They know I can't be all places at the same time. They ride the bus back with their teammates from away games, which they enjoy. They would be disappointed to see a nanny at a game. I chucked the nanny when they were 3 and put them in daycare once I realized the nannies congregate in the play parks and ignore the kids. And, I have an elderly parent that I help care for by providing a caregiver and check in during the week and weekends. If you can afford a nanny, you should be able to afford a caregiver. We pay extra for our kids to go to an after school program. They had an after school program in the public school as well. So, not sure where you live that after school programming is not available.


You think that the kids would rather have no one there than a nanny? You chucked your previous nanny? How kind of you! You are a true gem, OP.

I know right? As long as they are employing a good person and pay them good wages why would it bother you in the least? People have definitely done way stupider things with money!!!

Yes, got it. Sounds plausible. Drinking and driving during school hours and with kids in the car is a bad combo. Nanny should solve that.

IDK, but in my kids' former school it was often so that the moms could work out at the gym and play tennis or golf. YMMV, of course.

those moms can't have other responsibilities outside of an office? volunteering/community work, freelancing, assisting elderly family members, caring for other child with special needs, etc. or maybe their kids have conflicting schedules so they have someone help get everyone to their own activities?

I will probably get flamed but I am always curious about the SAHMs at my kids private school who have older kids and still need the assistance of a nanny. My DH and I are both working professionals with demanding jobs. Mine allows more time flexibility so I can manage to pick the kids up and attend sports game after school. When I see a nanny at a sports game rather than the SAHM, I often wonder "She can't be that busy and I doubt that her schedule is as demanding as mine". And, yes, I have more than one kid who both play multiple sports. Just curious...
