Not necessarily true. I ate an enormous amount of food when I was living away for three weeks. I gained 25 lbs. it was permanent and insane.

What the what? Why did you eat so much to gain 25 pounds in 3 weeks? Was someone force feeding you? What the hell were you eating?

I think PP went on her own Eat, Pray, Love quest...

OP, metabolism slows as we age. To raise your metabolism, you need to exercise enough to boost your heart rate.

this happened to me. About 20lbs during my month-long honeymoon to Thailand and Paris. Never lost it.

Brown rice /fish (salmon ,tuna , sardines) / vegetables / water ../fruit (berries..kiwi..watermelon)

Eat to give yourself fuel (not eating big portions to get full)

Regular exercise as well(eating good is just the tip of the iceberg .working out is the icing on the cake)..running,biking,playing sports etc.all of that body fat will shed off asap!

Cut down on sodium, sugar and simple carbs. It's probably due to water retention. Clean eating will make a difference quickly.

I agree w/pp's. Also, if you want to give yourself an extra boost, cut down on the carbs and increase lean protein. Do this for a week or two and depending on your body, you should be fine. You sound a lot like me. I always gain about 5 pounds on vacation.

Definitely cut out alcohol and fast food. Drink more water and cut sugar and you will find it comes off easily.

If you cut out alcohol and fast food, that should do the trick. Reducing calories is waaaaaay more effective than exercise, as well.

So, I just got back from going away for April vacation with my family, stepped on the scale, and I gained five pounds! Ah! I know this doesn't sound like a big deal to a lot of people, but in my past experience even small weight gains like this can be permanent. Any tips for getting these five pounds off? I'm interested in focusing on specific food groups and I am not opposed to cutting out alcohol or fast food, but I just can't commit to any "cleanses" or things of that nature. Also, how important is exercise really in the scheme of things? I believe in getting moving every day, but does it really make THE difference in weight loss?
