She's not complaining about anything, she's asking for feedback on whether or not she should let her daughter attend. For me the answer would depend on how well I know and trust the mom who would be taking them, as well as whether DD's group of friends tend to be well-behaved and mostly sensible or if they are a bit harder to manage. I would especially think about the group dynamics between DD and the various friends.

I saw that, but how in the world is it relevant to this thread? Unless you think the mom who will be taking the kids is going to either let them wander unsupervised or stand around and let them have sex at age 9, in which case don't send DD because you obviously don't trust the quality of the supervision she would have. 16:44 here with one quick edit. I see that there was nothing about a hotel in the original post, not sure where I got that from. If it's not an overnight trip I would add up the cost of the ticket, meals, and gas $ and have DD pay the smaller of either the ticket price ($50) or one half of the total. Then I would give the mom -- not DD -- $20 for incidental expenses and let her know if an emergency came up for which DD cost her more than that I would reimburse her after the trip.

Yeah I had a similar experience. Then I said "No"

I would let her go if I trusted the mom going to supervise appropriately, could get a full itinerary from her with a guarantee she would remain reachable by phone and let me know of significant deviations, and if I approved of said itinerary, assuming I was OK with the style of music (no problem if it's Disney).

However, she would need to pay for the ticket (I would cover hotel, food and gas $). Therefore it's unlikely she would actually want to/be able to go. If she saved her entire allowance each week, at $9 a week that's still 6 weeks of saving which is pretty much forever to a 9 year old.

It might be fun but is want more than 1 mom going. Chances are 1 will get sick or something on the trip.

9 year olds do not go to out-of-town concerts.

The concert ticket may be 50$, But I would consider it $100 for the weekend, if you have to pay for hotel, food, gas (shared). Absolutely not, unless I was going and my daughter had she earned half of the money and does a 9 year old actually have $50 that she has earned?

MY DD and a few of her friends would like to attend a pop concert for a Disney-type boy band next month. Only thing is, it is in Richmond, and although one of the other moms has agreed to bring them, I cannot go with them myself. The concert tickets are also over $50, which I think is a lot to spend on anything when you are 9! I just feel a little uncomfortable about it. Anyone have a similar experience?
