Costco usually carries more 'wild' fish in the summer, I see mostly 'farmed' in the winter.

PP from directly above here. I said steelhead is a "fresh" fish, but I meant its a fresh water fish, as opposed to a salt water fish.

My costco (in DC) always has fresh farmed salmon and fresh farmed steelhead. Farmed salmon is a bad choice in terms of environment and sustainability. But the steelhead is a fresh fish (and a close relative of salmon) and thus is farmed in closed containment systems. Farmed steelhead is an environmental "best choice" according to the Monterey Bay seafood ratings. And its super delicious. I sprinkle the top with butter, salt, and sometimes coconut sugar (you could do brown sugar, or maple syrup) and bake it at 350 for 11 minutes. It seems a little underdone when you take it out, but continues to cook on the hot pan.

The wild frozen salmon looks great, but I haven't tried it yet.

Yes, I love Costco's fish selection, especially when the Fresh Wild Sokeye is in season. I throw that on a cedar plank weekly in the summer on the grill.

My kids are also addicted to their wild salmon burgers. Makes for a very easy weeknight meal.

Check out your local Costco's fish supply, if that's important to you. I'd never join Costco to buy fish, though. Much cheaper fish at Trader Joe's, and it's fine, farmed, frozen.

Are you sure that you're only looking in the fresh department? I thought that all Costco's carried the same frozen products. Anyway, I agree with the pp's that the frozen wild salmon is excellent. I buy the Morey's wild marinated salmon and my kids love it. I have even served it to company for dinner, it is so delicious. There is also the Kirkland brand wild salmon that isn't marinated. I buy lots of frozen fish there -- isn't it true that a lot of the "fresh" fish at the grocery stores is really just frozen fish defrosted? I'd rather defrost it myself.

Their fresh sushi-grade tuna is incredible.

NP here. Are the contacts at Costco cheaper than buying online? I guess it depends on the type and brand.

They do have wild frozen salmon, and I find the quality and taste to be excellent. Better than Whole Foods frozen. The frozen flounder is great too, though tends to fall apart when you cook it into halves. No biggie!

I've found that they consistently have really good frozen fish - both wild and farmed, I normally get the wild. They carry both plain individually-wrapped fillets, and things like salmon burger patties or pre-marinated fillets.

Fresh is a little more hit-or-miss. They occasionally have a fishmonger that serves out large prawns or specialty items like king crab legs. Farmed salmon is pretty common in their fresh cases.

They have fresh wild and farmed salmon, as well as frozen farmed salmon. Others as well.

Lots of shellfish to choose from (at least in DC on weekends they set up a seperate fishmonger for shellfish)

I am thinking of getting a Costco membership because I heard you can get good deals with fish, but I have never been to a Costco. I have only lived here for a few weeks and I am getting acquainted with the different supermarkets.
Can you tell me if the fish they have is mostly fresh or frozen or both?
