You can get operable steel windows and optional screens.

Those are mostly aluminum storefront.

I would assume for something like that it costs around $60/SF.

This. Steel is an excellent conductor for temperature and it will be bringing cold from outside. So, unless there is a sunroom or something else that will help isolate the steel from outside elements, it will be like having ice cubes in winter in your living room. Same for steel doors, ok, but you need to add another door on the inside or an entree on the outside of the steel door.

Note that steel has a thermal transfer rate much lower than that of aluminum as well as less surface area for the heat transfer to occur (note the ultra slim sitelines); therefore steel does not generally require an added thermal layer. When a thermal layer is specified, be sure that it does not compromise the structural integrity and strength of the steel by splitting it into 2 separate pieces with a thermal layer in between.
