We always collect money and give our admin a gift certificate and flowers. She works for about 15 of us, and that may sound like a lot, but the truth is, there isn't a lot for her to do per person since we all edit our own docs, can type, etc. Only people who travel have much to assign. Paralegals on the other hand, do a lot for our group and I have had a heck of a time trying to figure out when is the normal paralegal day celebration. I read somewhere that it's traditionally been done on St Patrick's Day. Anybody know?

Ha! I thought today must be Admin Professionals Day when I saw a guy in a suit scurrying out of Safeway with an orchid at 9am.

I always felt like this made up holiday was a consolation prize. I mean, you could always just pay me more. There's no CEO day or VP day because that's every god damn day.

Company-wide, we didn't do anything, although we have in the past.

We are a small company and our CEO didn't acknowledge it at all. Really poor form IMO.

I'm sorry - that sucks! Of course staff needs to be appreciated all year round but on this day something special should be done!

Maybe he did something for his own admin, but in the past he's taken all the admins out, or we've ordered in, something.

A couple colleagues and I took our admins to lunch and thanked them for everything. A few others did as well, I believe.

Wow nice! What kind of company is this? Meanings legal, IT etc?

We got breakfast yesterday, and have an "awards" reception today. Also, we all got duffle bags with the firm logo on them.

Did you all celebrate at work today? Does your company give gifts to support staff or admin staff? Curious to know what other companies do.
