I can't wear heels. Thought I would do a low platform, and I like the look of cork. I'm early 40s, a teacher. My life is not glamorous, so if you don't like these and want to suggest an alternative, please keep that in mind. And can't do $$$. No heels!

Well, yes, they do look old lady-ish. That doesn't have to be a bad thing, it is what it is if you want to wear them. I'm picturing your sporting them with capris & a solid colored t-shirt from Loft. Not that there is anything wrong with that if you don't mind that look.
