Italian woman here who cooks with oils, garlic, bacon, red meats etc often. I always wear "cooking clothes" too and crack a window and do a bowl of vinegar. Cuts it down by 60 percent. I live in a 1200 soft home so it doesn't take much for the place to smell like garlic for days.

OP I feel the same! I'm Asian and with all the spices and curry the whole house and kitchen smell! I try to wear "cooking clothes" when I make food and then throw them straight into the wash. My hair and everything smells of garlic and onions. I love the vinegar idea and can't wait to use it.

Hi!
It's this one
http://www.amazon.com/Broan-E66130SS-30-Inch-Elite-Stainless/dp/B000R9CFIY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398195366&sr=8-1&keywords=Broan+E66130SS

We got it for in the 5s at our local appliance dealer. It is exactly what I wanted.

Vinegar or white vermouth - a small bowl/cup nearby helps with smells. (I only do this with fish/seafood.)

I bought a very effective but quiet hood as part of my kitchen reno. It was a top priority and it's working well.

Open the windows; put a bowl of vinegar on your counter and it will absorb the smells. Clean your counters with baking soda and lemon juice. Put some tea tree oil and water in a spray bottle and spray around the kitchen. You should not feel restricted to use your kitchen just because of lingering smells.

I love the smell of cooking. But if you don't then open the windows in the kitchen and put in a window a fan.

How do you get rid of the cooking smell in your house? I just can't stand cooking because of the smell.
