Anyhow, I am Italian (born in the 80's) and to this day I can't swear in Italian because it was never never OK to do that in my house. Even things like "stupid" were forbidden and considered poor taste.
I have friends back home and their kids do not swear at all.
BUT I am sure some kids do. I am thinking it might be more tolerated if boys do it rather than girls....In any case, I don't think it is an "Italian" thing. I think it is a parenting thing.
BTW, I have no problems swearing in English because I was never conditioned against those swear words and they don't really feel 'bad' to me. So I really have to pay attention not to do it.

no. i live in milan and I'm a bybysitter. The father of the family is a lawyer and the mother a high school teacher. The girls are 5 and 3 years old.
Is being a lawyer still respected over there? Have read that other countries have a glut of lawyers and because it seems like anyone could be one there isn't as much respect for them. Also, lawyers swear a lot. Not sure about teachers though. Aren't they well respected there?
