I think it's pretty obvious that if these friends are willing to eat out on Passover they're not worrying about these things. I observe Passover but am not kosher and am perfectly fine eating out during this time. OP, any place where you would go with someone who is not eating carbs will be fine. Even Italian will work since they can get salad or similar.

+1. If your friends were worried about it, they would have suggested a restaurant.

Not true at all. We keep Passover and aren't observant (don't keep kosher). My father in law had matzah with bacon a few days ago. It's all what you're comfortable with.

Agreed. If they were observant enough to eat no meat out of the house, they probably won't be eating out this week at all.

Did you ask them? They should know how observant they plan to be.

I won't eat at all on Passover. While a salad does not have chametz in it, the kitchen, plates, and utensils have not Ben kashered for Passover.

Sushi works for us, but we eat rice.

I agree that you should probably just ask the friends for a list of their food restrictions.

Some dishes at an Indian restaurant would work well, chicken, meat, vegtable korma etc. However, depending on how strictly they are keeping Passover they may not eat rice, lentils, chickpeas legumes ( including green beans and peas) which may make Indian complicated.

Ask them. I wouldn't eat out of the house at all on Passover. Some friends will eat salads or things that are just bread free. One size does not fit all here.

Aha...I see your father in law found those amazing pigs that chew their cud. How amazing.

+1 on steakhouse.
They aren't eating bread or pasta. Possibility a longer list of foods too, but since they are eating out, they probably aren't that observant.

You should choose a diner or a steakhouse.

No pasta, so not an Italian place.

We're meeting friends for dinner. They'll have their preschooler and baby and we'll have our toddler. They're observing passover. What kind of restaurant should we choose? Someplace with big salads? Breakfast all day diner?
