there's a fall blooming and spring blooming variety. it's nice to have one of each, then they alternate for blooms.

Merrifield Garden Center has them. Unfortunately, ours bit it this winter.

I saw a lot of them at American Plant on River Road in Bethesda. they usually sell plants that survive in this region.

We've grown camellia's for 30 years. This winter truly was hard on them, particularly the fall C. sasanqua.

Wonderful link to the Potomac Camellia Society and cold hearty species. Camellias thrive for the most part in our area so do invest your time and more in them.

Look for Ackerman hybrids. They should say so on the label:

Johnson's at Wisconsin Ave and Van Ness has them. Just saw them yesterday.

Better especially if we have another winter like the one we just had.

Just make sure the variety you get is hardy at least to zone 7. A few less hardy varieties died thanks to our rough winter this year. Behnke's is great.

Any major garden center. Behnke's in College Park has a great selection.

Anyone know where I can buy a camellia bush in the dc area?
