It doesn't look like anything special from the outside, but inside is nice and the food is great. If you're going to be going with older people, I'd say go on the early side for dinner no matter where you go.

The Prime Rib is not quiet unless you go super early and on a weekdau. It might even still be busy then.

Le Vieux Logis on Old Georgetown in Bethesda is under new ownership and The Washington Post magazine gave it a good review this past weekend. No steps and valet parking.

La Ferme is great because no one would notice if someone dies there. It happens most evenings.

McCormick & Schmick's did a small private room for just 6 of us once, that was nice. But I'm not sure it's there anymore. (The one next to the Bethesda metro on Woodmont.)
If it is there, you'll have to dropoff right by the front door and then someone will have to go park. I'm not sure they have valet.

When my grandparents were still in DC, the restaurants that they preferred were La Ferme, 1789, and a little French place in the Wildwood strip mall that I think has since closed (the chef was close to their age).

1789 has some small rooms. Be sure to ask about accessibility though, as some rooms have stair access only.

La Ferme sometimes has a piano player, so ask about that when making reservations, as you will want to eat before the music starts or on a night without music.

You might also consider a brunch.

I will be graduating with my masters degree, and am trying to figure out a good place to celebrate with my family. My dad lives in olney, but we have no problem traveling around MoCo-dc, if there's a good place! I will not be walking at the ceremony, so there isn't a huge emphasis on any particular time. The big issue is my grandparents. My grandfather is in the early stages of dementia, and is very cranky. I'm not even sure he will come, but if he does, it will need to be a place that is handicap accessible, as he is afraid to do stairs. My grandmother can walk some distances with the help of a cane, but cannot hear well at all. Any loud background noise makes it impossible for her to flow conversations at a big table. I know it's probably easier to just eat at home, but I think it wouldn't feel as special, particularly to them, and they'd feel bad about stopping a "real" celebration. Any thoughts?
