Yes you can clean the pots. Use the same ratio do bleach to water as you would use to disinfect toys etc. check the back of the bleach bottle.

With the cucumbers, did you plant male and female plants? I do only cherry tomatoes in containers. The rule of thumb is not to plant the same plant in the same container 2 years in a row.

Last summer I planted tomatoes, cucumbers and green peppers in medium sized containers. The green peppers did great, but I got some type of wilt on the cucumbers and tomatoes an they really did not thrive. Is it safe to use the same containers for my garden this year? I'm worried that the fungal wilt might still be lurking in the pots. Is it possible to clean the pots really well (with bleach?) and use clean, fresh potting soil? Or do I just bite the bullet and buy brand new containers?
