i love Harris Crab House but it's even farther out, over the bay bridge.

Harris Crab House is our favorite too! Agree most are shipped in from further south, but I doubt your guests really care that much (or will even know unless you tell them). They're probably more interested in the crab-eating experience.

Few are from the bay anymore. Which is fine, they are about the most overrated food ever.

Even in the summer most are From Louisiana, there just aren't that many crabs left in the Bay.

Has anyone tried Mays up in Frederick? Are they as good as they purport to be?

If you don't want to leave Bethesda, there's a place (Bethesda Crab House, I think it's called) on Bethesda Ave., on the other side of Arlington Blvd.

I'm not a crab guy so can't give a personal recommendation, but I have heard that Cantler's is the best as PP says, but Bethesda Crab House is good for what we have here in town.

We have friends coming in from out of state this weekend. They want to go to a local crab place for hard shell blue crabs. I love crab, but we normally get them in the summer. And, obviously, I have no clue as to what is available right now. Are hard shell crabs available at this time of year?
