Not really. You have to lottery in to the magnets for TAG middle school, but you can't lottery unless you live in PG. I believe the exception is that if you are TAG identified by the county (you could bring the child for private school testing in February maybe even if you didn't have a PG address?) and you are zoned to a school that has a TAG magnet then your child is placed into the TAG magnet regardless. At least this was what I was told by the PGCPS folks when I asked. DD is zoned to the magnet for 7th and 8th but since our neighborhood school is K-6 she would have to lottery in for 6th.

It wouldn't hurt to get her tested. The only problem I see that might happen is the school actually doing the test. Since the test is usually given to a particular grade. The school will have to make special arrangements to have your daughter tested such as pulling her out of class and someone giving her the test. You can ask her teachers and see what they say. Good luck to you and your daughter.

There's no point in getting the TAG designation if she's going to CPA. It is a charter and there is no pull-out or dedicated TAG program.

Is the test on the computer or paper, if anyone remembers. My daughter as well will take the test in her school this fall..

OLSAT and Otis Lennon are the same tests. They aren't exposed to questions in class, but teachers are supposed to give out some sort of sample question pack with testing information ahead of time. If you are looking to have her practice, try a logic puzzle book or just do Legos and word puzzles.

OLSAT is the name of the test.

The test isn't very long from what I remember. I gave it a couple years ago when I taught younger grades. I now teach middle school so I have those tests fresh in my mind.

For those parents who kids took the TAG test. Do you know the name or type of test that pg county gives. My little cousin in New York took an Otis Lennon test I believe. Does pg county have a specific test. Are children exposed to the type of questions that may be asked in public school before they take it. My daughter is in catholic and I am planning on having her take the test next year in February. Is the test very long.
