We're in a BCC feeder elementary zone, and in my (relatively small) interactions with other parents, there is plenty of diversity in family structure. Each of my kids' classes or extracurricular activities has had single parents, divorced/remarried/blended family parents, gay and lesbian parents, parents with a deployed spouse, immigrants and expatriates, interracial and interethnic families, and so on and so forth. No big deal to anyone, nor should it be. I can't imagine that this is not the case in all the Bethesda area schools. This is 2014 after all.

There are of course many divorced and some blended families.

More subtly, there are older parents (one dad I know is 70) and younger parents, there are military families temporarily stationed here with a parent treated at Walter Reed hospital, there are international families here on 2 year stints working for the World Bank or similar organizations, etc...

I know of at least one gay family at BE, and there are several gay families in our BE neighborhood with kids who will be going to school in a few years.

there seems to be lots of information about ethnic and economic diversity at the different schools in the bethesda area, but is there anywhere to find out which schools have more diversity in terms of family structure such as divorced parents, gay parents, blended families, etc.? or can anyone share what they have seen at different bethesda publics?
