I heard DivorceHotel is coming to the US soon. This means you can settle your divorce over a weekend and don't have to go to the Netherlands!

You get divorced in the state you currently (at the time of divorce) live in. Bec the us recognizes legal marriages that happen out of the country, I'm sure they'd recognize legal divorces that happen outside of the country. So if the law of the Netherlands doesn't require residency to divorce, I'm almost positive it would be given full faith and credit here.

It's a divorce. You can get one here without having to check into a hotel if you both agree on the terms and it's not an acrimonious divorce.

Why the hell do you need to check into a hotel? Yes I saw the article a few weeks ago on CNN.

It's probably not going to be recognized in the US. (I believe) You need to get divorced in the country where you were married. Talk to a divorce lawyer.

Has anyone tried this company? They're in the Netherlands, so would a divorce enacted there be recognized in VA? How well does it work if you have kids and need to resolve custody issues?
