As far as apps go you could try Nike+ or

Strava

I think Strava is a bit more accurate but with an app you're running into the same set of imperfection issues.

Congrats on your new distances and yeah, you're not a newbie anymore.

Try gmap pedometer - here's a link to a quick route I drew on the Mall.

I have a Garmin GPS watch that usually doesn't kick in till 8-9 minutes into my run, so I use the gmap pedometer site to fill in the missing mileage. (I just start a new lap when the mileage finally starts picking up.) one hint: use "manual" option when drawing because the option to select "for runners" is actually more suited to the way cars travel.

I find runkeeper pretty accurate except when I'm in a strange area and not getting a good GPS signal. Do you think that might have been the problem?

Haha! Thanks 8:28, I guess I just didn't see myself a runner but you're right!!

To the other pps, I thought about the garmin and I have an iPod (which is how I use runkeeper app) but I was hoping to have just 1 thing that would do it all. I appreciate the insight though and I'll probably end up with a garmin - now that I now I can really do 10 miles without dying, I'd like to see if I can cut time from my 12 minute pace to whatever my body can handle

I have a Garmin GPS watch which I love and is very accurate and an IPOD Shuffle to listen to music. I used to use my phone but I hated the arm band. The watch is very comfortable and I just clipped the Ipod on my shirt and it is so light I don't even feel it.

I finished my first 10 miler today (yayyyy me!) but runkeeper registered 14 miles when I know it was for a fact 10 (boooo runkeeper). Any suggestions for an app or equipment that would be (a) accurate with miles (b) tell me my progress and (c) let me listen to music? I'm more concerned with accuracy than anything.

Thanks!
