How long ago did this happen? If this was years ago it may not have to be a red flag.

Some people just have a thing about going to the dentist. Usually pride or at least caring about maintaining a decent appearance are enough to motivate people to get these things fixed.

I know that even though I am on a fairly tight budget (HHI 70k, family of 4) that if this happened to me or anyone in my family we would do whatever it took to get the money together to fix a tooth - no excuses. Maybe that's just my ingrained middle-classness.

In this guys' case, the proper fix might be an implant or veneer, either way not cheap, but it concerns me that this guy is not compelled to fix this.

I wouldn't sweat it.

I would only worry if you met the ex and her tooth was chipped too.

I think you need to talk to her and get her side too. If he won't let you meet her, then I would dump him.

That would be a HUGE red flag.

200 lb. ex with a frying pan, and you are worried about a chipped tooth? Yes, lots if red flags. Dump him.

Her problem is the way in which he got the chipped tooth. What kind of life does he live that something like that would take place? How volatile do his relationships usually become? This screams dsyfunction.

Secondly, poor oral hygiene is a sign of class. Notice how poor people have bad teeth and the middle class get braces and fix chipped teeth?

Okay so I have been going out with this guy for about two and a half weeks now.

His front tooth is chipped and when I met him, I asked him what happened. He told me he got in a fight w/an ex and told me the crazy 200 + lb. bitch attacked him w/a frying pan and head butted him, thus chipping his tooth.
He told me she was crazy and that she did offer to pay to get it fixed, but he didn't really care. He said it was no big deal...It was just a tooth.

He acts like he could care less, but if it were me, I would care.
I am not a vain person, but when I meet people, if their front tooth were chipped, that would be one of the first things I would notice about the person. If my tooth were chipped like that, I would be very self-conscious esp. during job interviews and in my dating life.

It's not just a little chip..I would say it's the whole bottom half of the tooth so basically she knocked off 50% of his bottom tooth off.

Something in my gut doesn't feel right about this.
I mean, what did he do to make her so angry that she knocked his tooth off? And he doesn't sound angry when he talks about it which makes me think he knows he deserves it because he must have done something equally wrong to her. Perhaps he physically hit her as well?

If it were me and I didn't do anything wrong and some ex broke off my tooth, I would fight tooth and nail (no pun intended!) and sue his ass.
But he just shrugs it off, doesn't seem angry or fazed by it at all.

I think there is more to this story, but he said they just got into a fight and that was it.

Should I just let this go or go with my gut?
