Look for a yoga studio that has a good introductory offer. A good flow class will provide both cardio and strength training/core work.

OP, I suspect you are one of my coworkers, as I am currently in the same boat.

I'm winging it until 5/1, when I plan to get a 30-day deal at the WSC, and then I'll wing it again till the gym reopens. In my case, I'm dropping the kiddo off early at school and working out at my regular gym and then coming to work a little late. Not ideal, but gets the job done. Good luck!!

LOVE THIS! I've had it for a couple years and string together 3 of the 15 minute work outs. Usually a core, an arms, and a legs. You will feel it the next day.

Thanks, PP! Just downloaded it, looks great!

You're welcome! They're amazing! The more you use it the more workouts it unlocks. A lot by pro athletes. I LOVE the fact that there are pic and video demonstrations of every exercise. Hard to believe this thing is free. Good luck to you!

Can you borrow or rent a bike? I know Old Town Alexandria has a bike rental place near the riverfront.

Most gyms will give a free 7-day pass to local residents, hoping that you'll join. You could do this at every gym nearby. Or at least in Fairfax and Arlington, there are county rec centers where you pay by the visit.

Whoops, sorry - yes, I usually run. Thanks for the recs - I'll check out both videos.

Is your regular form of exercise running? (That's what I'm assuming since you didn't mention that.) I like Jillian Michaels videos since they combine strength and cardio. That's what I do when I can't run. When I'm cross training to give my legs a break, I do the Leslie Sansone walking videos. I thought it wouldn't be enough, but I tried it at work with some other women who like a no-sweat lunch workout and find them to be just enough to raise my heart rate a little and get my blood flowing after sitting at my desk all morning

Please help! I've been using the elliptical and stationary bike at the gym for cross-training, but my gym is closed for repairs for the next six weeks. The pool's not open yet, I don't own a regular bicycle, and I'd rather not buy a six-week gym membership. Do I have any other options for cross-training besides walking? Any workout DVDs I could purchase that might do the trick? Thanks!
