My 9 yr old has been on it for 5 yr daily. We give it to him right before bed.

My 4 yr old DD has been taking it for a year now, but we do our dose in the mornings, so I guess no idea how it affects sleep. But I never noticed a change in her sleeping patterns -- she sleeps well at night and still naps at school.

Perhaps the dose is too much? Maybe you could try splitting the daily dose into two doses, one in the morning, one before bed?

Awesome. Thanks for the responses. I think I'll trust my ped allergist and keep an eye on my son. Just wanted to see if anyone wanted to actually share their experiences and for those that did...thanks!!

Zyrtec makes me feel wired. I wouldn't give it to my kids.

I know right? I think my 89 year old grandma would laugh for 20 min straight if I told her my 6 month old is on allergy medicine. O now a days things are *different*.

Zyrtec does not cause drowsiness. It gives you the body creeps and makes you have restless sleep.

And our ped allergist suggested we try it when our DS was 10 months old - he's now 4 and still takes it daily. We've always given the dose in the early evening and never noticed any effects on sleep.

Zyrtec made my 6 year old overly alert and cranky. I took him off it - he just wasn't himself. The sleeplessness from allergies was better than that.

If your LO is on Zyrtec daily -- do you notice any issues with their sleep? My 6 month old just started taking it in the AM and hasn't napped well at all since starting. In wondering if it has anything to go with it.

Thanks!
