After you wait a day, does the tan rub off on your clothes if you use lotion (or suntan lotion)? This happens with me sometimes when I use self-tanner at home. Even days later, if I put lotion or suntan lotion on, the self tanner will rub off on my clothes.

Just build in a day between the tanning and the event you're tanning for to let the orange fade to normal - no big deal. Watch your underarm areas (make sure to expose a little to the spray under your arms!) Don't wear nice clothes there because stuff might rub off - do use the lotion to keep it off your hands and feet but be careful with straight lines where you applied the lotion. Oh - don't get a wax right after (within 24 hours) of a spray tan. The tan will get waxed right off - in my case, the upper lip. That sucked.

Booths turn you orange! You have to go somewhere where they'll airbrush you - looks much more natural.

I agree with this. The ones that are sprayed on you are much more natural looking in my opinion. Spray tans have come a long way and I don't think the "orange" color is standard fair anymore unless you're going to discount type places.

Yeah. My cousin used to do this all the time. Honestly, you'll probably look like a sorority girl.

OP, don't listen to these ladies- there are obviously people who over tan themselves in life and just because you go for a spray tan doesn't mean you won't have control over how much they put on, I had it done for a wedding last fall and it looked very natural and not at all orange or fake.

I did my first spray tan last summer. I was so nervous that I would look ridiculous, but it worked out great. Remember to open up your fingers (I believe the proper term is "fingers splayed") or else the spray doesn't get in there, and it looks silly. Yes you take off all your clothes. If you don't, they will be sprayed. They should give you a hair net. I think you have to wait 24 hours to shower afterwards, so plan accordingly. But you will be totally dry when you leave. It has a smell to it, but not a bad one-- kind of like body lotion.

The woman at the place I went to was very nice and explained it all to me. She even walked me into the room and showed me how to do everything (you have to do it yourself, since you're totally naked). Personally, if you felt intimidated, I would suggest trying a different place. There's no shortage of places around here.

I need a little color for a wedding this weekend (going as a guest, not the bride!) I thought I'd go get a spray tan tomorrow but, honestly, I'm intimidated. I called to make an appointment but the clerk says they're all walk-in and acted like I was a crazy person. So, I thought I'd come here with my self-doubt! What do I need to know? Does it dry immediately or do I need to wear something loose on the way out?! Do I go in nude?
