Eaton parent here: If Principal Pride can improve Hardy in the ways she is proposing and STAYS AT HARDY, I think that prospective Hardy students and families may be pleasantly surprised. I would much rather send my child to a smaller MS than Deal anyway. All of this being said, I am far more concerned with the uncertainty of what high school my child may go to despite living just over a mile from Wilson.

A dedicated, purpose built performing arts school that is centrally located and more accessible to all by Metro would be superior. particularly if it were located near a performing arts complex like Arena.

John Eaton is getting close to 50% in boundary, and I'll bet Cleveland Park families will not be thrilled about being forced to Hardy.

Perhaps DCPS is gambling that for OOB Eaton families, Hardy may not be as good, but it will be "good enough."

It really does feel like Eaton was thrown under the bus. Sure, easy to say it's been discussed for years, but so have other options at other schools. To have only Eaton moved from Deal, and Oyster moved from Wilson, seems just like a well, we've got to show we've hit something in Ward 3 so they'll take the hit. Why does Bancroft, which serves a mostly hispanic population, feed to deal when it is less than half a mile from CHEC? I mean come on.

On the other hand, someone has to take the hit, and as long as Hardy feeds to Wilson this isn't entirely disastrous for Eaton. But it's not good.

Who knows. This whole plan is supposed to take effect for lotteries at the end of this year.

Again, if that happens (Hardy moved out of Wilson cluster) when would it take effect? Should this be a concern for current Hardy students or is this dependent on the creation of a new HS, which could take years?

The proposal is particularly concerning, given the rumors that Hardy will be moved out of the Wilson cluster.

this has been theorized for the last two years at least. the fact that this plan is part of a proposal should not be a surprise, at all. Eaton is easy pickins' for this plan considering its large OOB population. Don't like the plan? you need to motivate and advocate quickly.

The proposals provide that John Eaton ES will be forced out of Deal, and be assigned to Hardy, What do Eaton parents think of that??
