Powell currently feeds into CHEC, but wants other options.

CHEC is a neighborhood middle school but an application high school. I don't think they could have any school feed to the high school. We are currently IB for CHEC for middle school and Wilson for high school (though I'm almost positive they'll move us to Cardozo, though I haven't actually checked that in the proposal).

You're right! Cardozo isn't even a bilingual school (that's CHEC). So there is NO rationale for having Oyster feed into this awful school.

Cardozo is not an application HS. It is a feeder HS.

CHEC is grade 6-12

Isn't Cardozo high school (as opposed to middle school) technically application? I know CHEC is for high school.

Yes, that makes perfect sense: Maintain your language skills in exchange for a crappy education. I think we'll pass on that offer.

Cardozo students deserve a better education than they're getting; but having Oyster feed into this terrible high school will NOT solve that problem.

Same for us who are IB for Bancroft. I didn't purchase my home with thought of attending CHEC or Cardozo. Maybe I should accept out matched spot at a DCI feeder.

Spectacular stupidity. Even if it's just a bargaining technique to encourage Oyster families to buy into "controlled choice" (probably the bureaucrats' goal), the very premise is laughable. Look at a map. Cardozo? B., please.

is a complete non-starter. If the DME thinks that Oyster parents are going to now send their children to a high school that is 99% FARMs and has CAS proficient and advanced scores of 33% (math) and 20% (reading), than someone is clearly smoking crack on the job.

Oyster either needs to feed to Wilson (as it has always done) or create a high school in Ward 3 with a specialized language /IB track.
