This is pretty much the case, but there is new stuff opening up near the ballpark. If you just stay on Maine Ave. eastbound, it turns into M Street, and the new stuff is on the other side of South Capitol.
Not immediately close, but easier to get to and different than the Fed Triangle/Metro Center area on the other side of the Mall.

I don't think there's much nearby. But if you go up by the White House/Federal Triangle there are some good options.

Besides the restaurants at the Mandarin Oriental, anything else worthwhile? Looking for a sit-down place that's not fast food or a chain. thanks!
