Thanks to those who offered feedback. Here's what the registration page says. Is it me or is this poorly written such that agreeing or disagreeing with the headphone policy means the same thing? So which do I choose if I'd like to wear headphones?

Those competing in the Parks Half Marathon for awards or prize money may not use headphones and will not be eligible for any award or prize money if such device is worn. See USATF Rule 144.3.*

I agree to the headphone policy
I do not agree to the headphone policy and understand that if I wear headphones I may be omitted from the official results

Makes sense to me. They are just making sure you check a box that states the consequences if you don't agree. Someone can't say they didn't understand what that option meant when they selected it.

Agree with the above PP.

Please don't wear headphones. It's tiresome having to deal with people crashing around and lacking any situational awareness because they're too busy listening to their music. Especially in crowded races, it's really inconsiderate.

You should be fine, agree with rec to run with one earbud in to help you stay aware of your fellow runners.

I did the parks half last year with headphones. Not sure if they specifically banned them then, but I had no issues.

i have done numerous races, they always tell you no headphones, bu tiwll not pull you from the course if you have them. Just be considerate. maybe only wear one ear bud and keep it down so you can hear others.

I'm wondering this, too! I registered, and clicked to agree with the no-headphones policy, but I'm already freaking out because I ALWAYS run with headphones. I have a tiny iPod and I keep the volume down (I want to hear cars/people/cyclists around me), but the music really helps me keep going.

Can someone who's done the half clarify whether I'll get pulled if I wear earbuds?

I don't care about official results…so do I reject the policy where it asks if you agree or not? Or will rejecting the policy get me pulled from the race? How many people actually wear headphones?
