How about family from out of country in MD for only 1 day..only see them 1 time per year. They can't change their travel arrangements? My kids are likely not going though I am usually very committed to them getting to school.

Note: for the parent who was deeply concerned about his/her child NOT getting perfect attendance due to travel on April 21, your situation is addressed here.

And staff --not just teachers and paras, but bus drivers, building service workers, and cafeteria personnel? Many of the building service workers at my school are immigrants who traditionally travel to Latin America for Easter celebrations. They never knew that they might have to work on 4/21.

On a serious note, I know kids who are traveling outside the country the afternoon of June 12. I feel that their absence on the 13th should be excused by the same logic.

agree i mean if your educational goal is to get perfect attenance...........

I got perfect attendance my entire school life and it didn;t help me get better grades.
