It's possible -- I've had it happen twice, but I feel like it's less likely these days than it was 10 yrs ago. Once for me was my first biglaw job -- it's just how the first handled the process, nothing special about me. You could around interviewing with 4-5 people and as soon as you leave each person's office, they call the recruiting/hiring partner with their recommendation. At the end you're taken to a conference room for a few minutes -- really it's to give them all a few min to chat. If you're in, you suddenly have an additional meeting with a hiring partner where you get an offer. If you're not, you're told -- well thanks for coming in, we'll have decisions in 1-2 weeks.

The second time was for a clerkship -- a lot different as it's only one judge and it's his decision. I didn't realize it happened that way so it was awesome to have a mid morning interview in Charlotte, have the flight land in NYC and have the judge call before I even left the airport with the offer.

You have a typo. It's damage, not manage

I had this happen as a federal employee with my first fed job. They said they couldn't "officially" offer me the job until HR mailed me, but that I was in. There weren't any other candidates applying and I was a direct hire.

That's how I got my first job after grad school. Candidates had been pre-screened and it was down to the top two. The other guy went first, then they interviewed me. After I left, I walked around town for a bit, and by the time I was back at the train station, ready to go home, all the hiring managers had had a chance to speak and come to an agreement that they wanted to offer me the position. It was especially unusual since this was a USG position, but in the private sector, I'd expect it to be even more likely.

I'm an executive level employee and have had this happen. Definitely possible.

That happened to me on my last interview, and I am not entry level. I just wowed them! Of course, the job before that took several weeks.

Not recent but once had an offer letter that had already been typed handed to me during an interview.

It's not entry level, about one step up from it. My parents will have no idea if she's actually at work or not as they both work and she could easily leave in the morning and come back in the afternoon and act like she's been at work. She'll take money from her boyfriend to buy stuff. My parents would really have no idea that she's lying to them. She's done it before and takes advantage of their kindness and naivety, and frankly I'm sick of it.

It seems unlikely, but I guess not impossible if she were last in their line of interviewees.

My sister is trying to get her life on track but has a habit of making up small lies (jobs/promotions/etc) in hopes that no one will figure it out/confront her. She's been job searching for awhile as she's been living at my parents house and my parents have basically given her a set amount of time to get a job or get out. Sister had her first interview at a company today for a professional, full-time job and called me 3 hrs later saying she got the job. I know I sound terrible to be so skeptical, but I don't believe her. And I want to call her out on it but would like opinions of people who perhaps work in hiring or have been on recent job interviews to find out how common this is. While she has a bit of experience, nothing about her resume would make someone go "Oh my god we cannot let her slip out of our hands. We must hire her immediately". Thoughts? I don't want her to pull a fast one on my parents and frankly I'm sick of her behavior.
