I commuted from TP (University Blvd exit) to Columbia for a while. Traffic wasn't too bad because of the reverse commute, but only because I was on the road at 6:30 am.

It's about 40 min from TP. I did it from SS only 2-3 days a week and it did suck. You also have to think about the cost of gas. That was brutal when it peaked around $5.30/gal one summer.

It's actually not as much of a reverse commute as much as one thinks between Exit 38 and Baltimore because lots of people commute to/from Columbia and points in between.

OP, I start early (7:45 most mornings) which makes a difference on that end. I'm 16:50. I know several people who commute from TP and Silver Spring to Baltimore, and people in Baltimore who commute from Baltimore to Capitol Hill and Chevy Chase. My office in Baltimore has had several people commute from the DC area in the past. Now it's just me. So, it's done.

Ehh, I commute from Four Corners SS to W Baltimore 3 days a week, and it's a PITA. Downtown Bmore is way worse, because you get caught in all the usual traffic hassles, parking takes forever, etc.

I've been commuting by car for nearly a year, by car, and it's getting to me. I was out of a job for a long time, couldn't find one in D.C. So, that's a consideration. A job in Baltimore might get 20 applicants, the same job in D.C. might get ten-fold or even more.

I commuted from Baltimore to DC for a little over two years. You would have a reverse commute but either way, it is soul sucking. There is nearly daily train/metro malfunctions and/or traffic accidents that extend the commute to an hour and a half or more each way. I would take the job only if you are willing to move closer to Baltimore down the line.

Why don't you move to baltimore? You could have an ocena view amd walk to work for half the mortgage you are paying.

Are you planning to drive or is the train an option?

I lived in Takoma and worked a long term assingment in downtown Baltimore.

I took the Red Line to Union Station and rode the Marc Train to Penn Station and vice versa. On a good day, it was 90 minutes each way.

I drove it a few times and it was a little over an hour door to door - that all depends on traffic though on 95 although I would come in the side door (Route 29 to 70 E to 695)

I'm considering applying for a job in Baltimore - but would the daily commute from Takoma be horrible?
