I wish there were an easy way to peel apples.

I use one of those apple peelers/corers that spirals around the apple. It works well about 80% of the time. Doesn't work well on soft apples or misshapen apples. I think I got it at LL Bean or someplace like that.

This is the one.

OP, would that number of apples work in a 6 qt slow cooker, or would I need to add more? Thanks for sharing!

I've developed an allergy to cinnamon. So sad!

I love making irish oats with apples and cinnamon overnight in the slow cooker. Makes the whole house smell great when we wake up! i'll try the apple sauce. Thanks, OP.

I'm going to be making apple-matzoh pudding for Passover next weekend and will have a LOT of apple skins. So I'll definitely be doing this - thanks for the tip!

OP again - I wanted to add that I peeled the apples and then used an apple corer/slicer to get them into wedges before cooking. In case anyone was thinking of using whole apples

OP here. I cooked them on high. Went to check on them after 2.5 hours and all I had to do was stir em and they were already done. So you could probably do low for twice as long. The applesauce came out really good, I think the cinnamon adds a lot and I used a mixed variety of apples.

Op, how long do you cook them in the slow cooker? Do you keep it at low or high? Thanks, would love to try it but don't want to burn...

This sounds great! I'm pregnant so of course I'd add a scoop of ice cream.

You must make homemade applesauce. Usually I make it on the stove, but decided to let it cook in the slow cooker today. And it smells just delicious. I added 8 apples of different varieties and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon. Nothing else - no sugar, water, or anything. Makes the whole house smell good. Try it
