Obamacare made our rates go up...we were at about $1200/month...in order to comply with Obamacare our plan was dropped by the insurer and replaced with one with crappier coverage for $1600/month.

You need to shop around. If your plan is canceled, don't expect them to slide you into a new one that is competitive. They bet that they can make money though your inertia.

We are a family of 5 self employed paying $450/month for carefirst bcbs bluepreffered HSA. We're healthy so no regular doctor visit which makes the USA work for us. Our plan will end next year and we will switch to obamacare then. We looked into it for this year and saw that we could pay $450/month thanks to a subsidy for basically the same plan but better coverage and better cost sharing. We didn't go for it because we weren't sure our doctors and preferred hospitals were in network. Hopefully it will be easier to get that info next year when we have to sign up.

Are you under the impression that obamacare will make your rate go down?

No employer sponsored plan. I pay $1340 monthly for medical and dental -- just for me.

$193 every two weeks, 3K deductible, 9K max out of pocket. 80% after deductible. It sucks.

I pay $212/month, which covers my family of 4. All preventive/wellness visits are covered with no co-pay. The deductible is $200/individual or $600 per family. NCPPO. I think it is pretty good, but it used to be both cheaper and better.

Employer sponsored. Just under $600/mo for family of four. No deductible for in-network visits; we have vision and dental.

I do not have an employer sponsored plan - we purchased a BCBS plan on the new health care exchange and we pay $1,120 for a family of three - no deductible.

PS My employer family plan (employee plus 2 or more) would have cost 300/month

DH has United Healthcare (PPO type plan)
He pays about $70/week for his own coverage only.
Deductible sucks - 2K and then they cover 80%. Used to cover 90%. Max out of pocket = 3K or 4K in network. More if out of network.

My employer plan is Cigna - also PPO type plan, I can go to any dr but better coverage in network.
Costs $250/month for myself and 1 dependent - and I have the 'premium' most expensive plan my company offers, there are other Cigna plans with higher deductibles/less coverage for about 180/month

Deductible - $300, then they pay 80% til you meet the maximum out of pocket - now, my max out of pocket is 1500 which was awesome when I had an unexpected surgery and hospital stay totaling over 100K .

My employer pays about 7K annually for my plan, according to them. Not sure what DH employer pays for his.

For those with employer sponsered plans, how much do you pay in premiums for a family plan and how much does your employer cover?

What is the deductible you pay for that plan for the family per year?

Who is the provider?

Trying to get a sense of how a plan of a potential employer stacks up against other plans out there.

Thank you!
