We were "shut out" for two years in a row and just got MV for kindergarten, so it does happen. Last year for PK4 we got into Sela (everyone did) and Bridges (low-20s) as well as our IB school Langdon.

The trick is definitely to have some less-popular schools in your list; everybody does usually wind up with an option that they like.

AppleTree LP had 330+ first choice applicants for 18 slots. Don't expect movement list in the past. This is becoming a very popular option on the Hill as people are not getting into their schools for PS/PK.

shut our last year pk4 and into Lee this year (with some nervousness). The best bet is a new charter. So I would watch what is coming down the pike for next year (arabic immersion?). But preschool is really a gimmie, so just wait for K or 1st before you make plans to move.

Sorry I mistyped before, my lowest waitlist is 47 for Lee. I think the 54 was Bridges. But we are talking PK4 in the days of the common lottery. I can't see myself getting off any waitlist.

OP here, I could tell you the list, but you can probably guess because they are all the same places other people apply...places like Hearst, Bridges, etc. Lee Montessori was my #2 pick. My waitlist number there is 47. I did not lottery for my in-bound school because I have a backup option this year for PK-4 and I can always get in-boundary for K. But I do not like my in-boundary school.

My lowest waitlist number is 54. For PK4. I really don't think there will be that much turnover.

If anyone out there was shut out two years in a row and then later had success I'd really like to hear it. Because I am seriously thinking that I may have to sell my house and move next year if we get shut out again.
