Oprah should be ashamed of herself. She's trying to cash in on the fact that Lindsey is this train wreck and everyone is watching to see when Lindsey will die, just like Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston and many other drug addicted celebrities. I can't and won't watch the show. It's not about some brat who can't get her life together, it's about an addict who can't stay clean and continues to spiral downward.

Be sure to read up on the website Television Without Pity... there's a thread for this show on the "candid reality show" subforum...

I have only seen on snippet but then got mad that Oprah would be so depserate for ratings that she would indulge this entitled BS. Oprah of all people knows about pulling yourself up by your bootstraps and being empowered. Why is she giving Lindsay this platform.

Another person here who is fascinated. She is very entitled... not understanding why the producer pulled the cheques they had advanced her when the apt she applied for was looking shady/holding the keys...demanding her money when the producer was protecting her and his investment... this is why people still think she is using; people just can't fathom that this addict behaviour might not be related to addiction.

And I just feel sorry for her with the parents she has... the father buying her brother (is he even in school/working/what's he doing with life) a brand new car for 50G or however much?? THen reneging, so now Lindsay feels forced to save the day and buy it for him because 'he deserves it'....

It is fascinating what people justify buying as 'he/she/I deserve it...'... sure, EVERYONE deserves nice, fun, free crap that looks pretty. But if you cannot afford it and are not working, then you do not BUY it. So it's this whole gutter mentality from this family. She is pulling the weight for the idiots around her, and she doesn't have the skill or intelect to function for herself... so all her energies are spent on her messed up family...

Heard of the show but never seen it. I may try to catch it On Demand, I'm intrigued.

yeah, the thing is she can move on and figure it out we hope, but her whole life has been f'd up from the start. she was a child actress with horrible parents and she lived a very abnormal life. then you throw in the enabling parents and handlers and those that encouraged substance abuse and she is a mess. she has no tools.

so though this seems so weird, she really can't be normal. she has to learn. not sure this will help at all, but I can see why she can't just do something else - she doesn't know how to be a person.

I'm a FT WOHM with two young kids so I don't really don't have time for a lot of TV, but found myself watching this the other day. Oprah gave her a reality show ("documentary) to document her life after rehab (believe this was her 5th or 6th time...maybe 7th). Normally I wouldn't post but given there is a thread on Ashton and Mila and Gwyneth's divorce, I figured someone may be interested.

The premise of the show seems to be that Lindsay lacks the tools to cope with life at all. While she is a total self-indulgent, entitled brat, I can't help but root for her that she will figure it out. Oprah kind of summed up the show when she told her, this is your life. Life has chaos and moving forward is about owning up to your commitments and just putting one foot in front of the other, and I don't think you are ready to do that yet.

What I find strange is that there seems to be constant enabling: she has not been in a movie that has turned a profit since Mean Girls 10 years ago but yet because of this show, she has a life coach and personal trainer, TWO ASSISTANTS (she is not currently working), a sober coach, and a DRIVER. The network is paying her rent in a huge NY apartment that must be worth millions if not tens of millions. Her main schedule is meeting with her coaches, going to AA meetings, and going to the dermatologist (I think to get lips plumped). I just feel like if she had to move back home and go to school or get a job like a normal person maybe she'd do better. Okay. Feel better for getting that out. Carry on...
