Me too, although mine are 4.5, 2.5, and 4 months. They're all asleep by 8. I watch 2 hours with my husband before bed. Sometimes I can sneak in 45 minutes during a daytime nap.

The DVR is a treasured piece of equipment in our house!!

I watch less when I've started a new book.

My kids are 4 and 18m. I have the Today show on in the background in the mornings. Outside that, I watch How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family, and Top Chef when it's on. I sometimes catch NCIS, but I rarely get through a whole hour.

I'd never even watch that much without the DVR and On-Demand. I usually watch when the baby's napping, or after the kids go to bed.

Huh? I didn't get that memo. Who says this? Everything I've ever been told is it is important to stay current with cultural trends, and that TV is fun and entertaining.

My kid is 2.5 and is asleep by 8. So I usually have an hour or two to watch (depending on what else I need to get done) before bed. I do things like fold laundry, mending, answering emails, etc while watching. TV is mindless entertainment, so I multitask.

Record and watch everything at my convenience. I'm spoiled now, can't stand sitting through commercials.

I'd say I probably watch 10-12 shows a week. We don't have cable, so during summers and maternity leave I catch up on cable shows via Netflix.

I love TV and always have. But having kids has required me to cut back a LOT. I don't have time. What I wantvtobwatchbus inappropriate for kids to see. After the kids go to bed, it's couple time.

I do DVR four shows a week and fit them in where I can, but I also feel out of the pop culture loop. Have never seen Downton Abbey, Mad Men, or Glee, for example.

I watch these when husband is doing the bath and bed routine with the kids, if I've finished cleaning the kitchen, laundry, and whatever odd weeknight chores I have. So I have an hour a night, about 3-4 times a week.

I DVR

Revolution
Parenthood
Cosmos
Under The Dome (summers)

And I can usually watch Big Bang Theory "live."

None for me.

2.5 yo. loves the Sprout channel. He also loves the Dora The Explorer Show ( Nickelodeon channel, I think). He also watches some of the science shows on PBS geared towards older elementary age/middle school children.

Kids are 2.5 yo and 2 mos.

Practically none. Every now and then I'll catch the weather on the local news or a sports event that I really want to see. But believe me, OP, you're not missing anything. We've even dropped cable because we find is all such a time waster. (Three kids, 12, 9 and 7)

I watch TV only to see the shows I am specifically following. Otherwise I can't stand to just have it on in the background all the time. Ugh.

I rarely watch live TV. But I keep a typed schedule of the shows I want to watch so I can make sure I don't miss them via On Demand or on Tivo or on-line.

Then, I wait until it is convenient to watch my shows. It is almost in the evening (after dinner but usually later after 10:00).

My children are 19 (lives away at college) and 17.

DH and I only watch a few shows together. Our tastes are just too different, which is why I watch most of mine after he has gone to bed. He has to get up early to go to work while I am retired and a night owl.

The shows I am currently following (though some are in between seasons at the moment):

Downton Abbey
Mad Men
Survivor
Modern Family
Big Brother
Believe
Cosmos
19 Kids and Counting
The Little Couple
Naked and Afraid
The Amazing Race

I just watched Glee. I watch the Jimmy Fallon stuff on Youtube. I watch a bunch of shows on Bravo. Our kids don't watch tv unless they're sick.

I keep seeing all these posts about popular culture and tv shows and feel so out of touch. I haven't watched a tv show in years. My kids are 2 and 4 yrs old. What are the hours you watch tv and how old are your kids? Do you record shows or watch them live? I'm hoping the tv watching crew has older kids which means there will come a time when my children are not running me into the ground and sucking the life out of me.
