Am a research scientist...have a job that requires a PhD. Make good money doing something I enjoy. Probably have 50% more with PhD than with just BA/BS

Same case for me!

Yes, in international affairs (specifically area studies focused on one region). Was absolutely worth getting the degree--even though in some ways it was a bit of a dilettante's degree (i.e. random classes in political science, foreign languages, etc. with no real depth in any subject). It has opened doors for me in an extremely competitive job market that I would never had had access to with just a BA. That being said, I was very lucky with financial aid and so didn't add significantly to my student loans. That is definitely not the case for most MA students.

Journalism was useless. Switched to a field that required a license.

Yes, in social work. Opened a lot of doors for me professionally - more job opportunities at a higher pay rate. Totally worth it.

Journalism - yes, but because of the connections and help with job placement.

Public Policy - helped me get my foot in the door, and taught me a lot of things that I would have had to learn over time otherwise.

Women's Studies + Public Policy. I loved going back to school for this. I'm not sure it helped directly with salary, but it certainly taught me how to approach issues from different perspectives, helpful now that I'm a consultant.

Nursing; tripled my salary. My husband has an MBA that did nothing. Not sure why work even paid for it as it seemed to benefit no one.

International Relations. Economics would have been better.

Journalism. Nope, not even back then and definitely not now.

M. Ed. Yes, as it directly increased my salary as a public school teacher and the classes were necessary to get the teaching endorsement I wanted.
