I know it may sound weird, but when I feel the onset of heartburn almond milk helps a lot. I've only tried the unsweetened vanilla one. I get heartburn pretty badly and I find it soothes my stomach. Good luck!!

How many mg per day? And is it the 24hrs one?

definitely PREVACID. At 22 week, I still couldn't shake nausea. I'm at 33 weeks taking Prevacid daily ever since week 22, as my doctor suggested. It changed everything. There is no need to suffer from heartburn.

I change to 150mg Zantac, 30 min before dinner in an empty stomach. Still, cannot eat anything too greasy or too sugary. I only eat at home (boring) and no dessert. Last time I had a bowl of icecream, i threw up three times the next day.

Has anybody tried reglan to try to move the food faster through GI system?

did you take the 24hrs one? did you take it everyday during your pregnancy or only for 14 days?

I'm doing 150 mg of Zantac 2 x a day plus getting up every 2 hours and taking 2 tsp of Mylanta during the night. It is wicked.

I am suffering soooo much with this! I was suffering during the 1st trimester and one of the obs at the practice I go to told me to take zantac 150mg in the morning and 150mg at night time before going to bed. I helped a little bit and by week 19-26 I felt GREAT! I even gained weight.

Now at week 28 I am felling pretty awful again. Zantac is not longer working, not even tums! I feel PAIN in my stomach, so much so that I have to make myself throw up to alleviate it. And it only alleviates it mildly.

I talked to my usual ob last week about it but he only said to avoid the trigger foods (??) - everything triggers it! He also told me to try NEXUM otc, but I am not really hopeful.

Darn it.. I was felling so great lately. It was wonderful to be able to eat again.

Anyway, WHY is cantaloupe good?

I got the green light for occasional pepto bismol which helps instantly. It has a small amount of aspirin in it but honestly, some people are given aspirin in preg for clotting issues.

My MFM group said ok for occ use.

I am dreading my GD test - sugar has been a heartburn trigger since week 7. No Christmas cookies, Valentine chocolate, and now no jelly beans - my favorite. Thanks for the reminder to make sure I have some Tums to take as soon as it is over! I guess I can use the wait time to practice my pain management techniques.

Thanks! I'll try canteloupe, watching carbs and upping the Tums to see if that helps. I think walking after meals helps, but the weather is not cooperating lately!

If this isn't better in a week, I think Zantac is next.

Ask your OB- Zantac worked for me when I wasn't pregnant, but not sure about rules during pregnancy.

Also dairy may exacerbate it. Are you eating a lot of fruits and vegetables? Low-fat low-grease diet is good. Easy on the carbs.

Try Zantac - works much better for me. Also eating canteloupe in the evening helped. I have to be UP 3 hours after I'm done eating or all hell breaks loose in the middle of the night. I still wake up twice and eat FOUR tums each time. 2 doesn't do anything.

22w pregnant. I have adjusted my diet - small meals, nothing spicy or acidic, no citrus, etc. I am taking Pepcid AC maximum strength (20mg) at 7am and 7pm with 15 min before eating and I can literally feel it stop working around 3pm and when I wake up at 3-4am. It is awful, I feel not nauseated, but like any food and stomach acid is going to slide out of my throat. I can't sleep on an incline because I also need to sleep on my side. Tums seem to do nothing. Also drinking milk used to help and now does nothing. Every day it gets worse.

Since Pepcid says not to exceed 40m/day, do I switch to the 10mg pills and take 1 every 8 hours?
What other meds will help?
