Arlington near metro stations is more single people--Old Town and Arlington away from the metro is more families. But I agree with the PP who said to look at Logan Circle and Navy Yard--tons of new buildings at Navy Yard that seem to be full of singletons. Some newer places might even have parking.

No. It's 1.1 miles from King Street metro all the way to the Potomac River. So, it's less than that from most places. It's an easy walk, plus there is the trolley that runs every 10 minutes. I have never heard of anyone taking a taxi from King Street metro to, say, The Majestic. Stop spreading misinformation to people who are looking for factual, useful info.

Clarendon in VA. But really, you are going to pay a MAJOR premium to be near metro...consider going to car free. You are young and single, be as unencumbered as possible. I would also suggest you look into Logan Circle, Columbia Heights (might be too "gritty" depending on where you are moving from), Navy YArd (tons of single young folks moving there, great waterfront park etc). HAve fun OP. Damn, I had sooooo many good times that age in the City. Also, if you want to meet a ton of people join a rec sports league. I did soccer, bocce and kick ball. Its a HUGE deal in DC area. Instant fun and social life...And you don't have to drive anywhere drunk if you get close enough to metro

I lived in Arlington (Courthouse - but walking distance from Clarendon) during my single days and it was awesome!

Old Town is lovely during the day and if you want to grab dinner, but really has no night life.

Glover Park. Unless you're a turbo that wears cargo shorts, went to a Big 10 school (Penn State or OSU) and drives a BMW 3 series.

Arlington is better for single people. Old Town has families with small children and retired people.

But if I were in your shoes, I'd rent out the master suite in a group house in DC. The northern parts of NW have street parking and some of the homes come with a few spot in the back.

I loved living in Clarendon at that age, and it's even better now.

Just wondering what neighborhoods have lots of younger, single people with meet-ups, etc.? I'm moving to the area and am looking at renting. Considering Clarendon or Old Town since I'm a car-lover and want a parking spot. I'm leaning towards Virginia locations. Any comments on the differences between Arlington and Old Town. Thanks!
