What are the impressions of the new Spanish option from what those who were accepted know so far?

I am giving up my Spanish Immersion spot as well.

For those who have been waitlisted - I'm giving up my Spanish Immersion spot, so there will be a least some movement on the list.

To the person whose daughter got into Phyllis E Williams, too. Did you accept? We did. I went down to the school and enrolled, too. We live in Bowie, so we're hoping transportation will pick her up from her daycare. The letter of acceptance just says we'll receive info about transportation before the first week of school. The principal said there should be some sort of open house before the start of school once they figure out all of the details. This kind of sucks because it's the first year. We just need to be patient.

When I went to the school for the Spanish Immersion I was told transportation should be provided. I know the French Immersion provides transportation, so I imagine it will be the same. They said we won't get much info until right before school starts.

Also, (excuse me if this is a dumb question. This my first time dealing with PGCPS) because this isn't her "boundary" school will they provide transportation for children in specialty programs? Or will it be like her charter school and I will have to drive her?... Just wondering

If I understand it correctly, the program and budget's been approved by the school board, but it needs final approval from the county council because they are dipping into reserves this year.

Daughter got in at Phyllis E Williams too. I'm so confused about this. I also read it's not approved yet on the PGCPS Website. But we have to accept by April 17th. Does anyone else have any info.

Our daughter just got a later saying she placed in the Spanish Immersion at Phyllis E. Williams.

We got a robocall from PGCPS saying parents of preK kids in Hyattsville should come to meeting about the new Spanish immersion school.

I think OP was asking about whether or not the BoE approved the Spanish Immersion Program proposed by Maxwell. The board did approve his budget, including SIP, however it won't be final until summer after the County Council and CE Baker approve the funding (and then the BoE has to reconcile the budget with what the county and state have approved in funding.

Please let us know if you get in. I wonder how slots there are.

Specialty program results haven't been announced yet but should be in a couple of weeks.

I've been reading about this program within the county but the last thing I read says it wasn't final yet. Is it finalized? Did anyone from this board get in? Just curious if you don't mind sharing. Thanks!
