Almost Human is a cyberpunk, cop drama. It just finished its first season of 13 episodes. It's spending a lot of time exploring the relationship between a human cop and his android partner. It's good.

Sarah Connor Chronicles got a lot of praise from my friends.

If you like fantasy, Game of Thrones is very good.

I really liked the American version of "Life on Mars." I was sorry that it got cancelled, but it wrapped up really well. A copy gets hit by a car and wakes up in 1973. He (and the audience) finds that 1973 is really almost another planet. We've changed so much.

Samurai Jack - this is a cartoon about a time-traveling Samurai, but it's beautiful and funny.

Also, its not fiction, but it is science: Neil de Grasse Tyson's Cosmos is currently running on Fox and Nat Geo and it's freaking gorgeous.

Kings..with Ian McShane. It only lasted a season, but it was so well done. It's on Amazon, maybe Hulu.

On the horror side, how about American Horror Story? I liked Season 2 the best so far.

Dollhouse was uneven, but there was some good stuff in there. If you decide not to watch it all the way through, skip forward to the Alan Turdyk episodes. He's exceptional.

The episode called "Belonging" is also very, very good. It's dark as it can be, but just straight up great science fiction.

Amazon Prime has the original Twilight Zone. Even though it's 50+ years old, it's still really creepy

I didn't like Dollhouse much though, which is a bummer because I love Joss Whedon

Misfits, quirky and dark

I loved Buffy, but I lost interest in the series during her college years post Riley. I tuned in for the finale, and never bothered watching those last couple of years even after the series is readily available.

I watched the first couple of seasons of Angel, but it too got stupid and never finished watching this series either.

Sleepy Hollow is great -- strong cast, witty dialogue -- unfortunately, the season ended in January and I don't think it's back until September.
