Lots of award winners embarrassingly forget to thank obvious people in their acceptance speeches. The most recent one I remember is Ben Affleck forgetting people and having Jen thank them later during her presentation. So, you just don't know.

OP -- No, he has doesn't anything for her career. It was at the end of a thank you for award speech. She acknowledged it like this "my sisters, and my brother, who is the best (his career)." We do the exact same thing, so why acknowledge his job and not mine. I found it so strange.

is she just closer to your brother? has he helped her out some way?

What does having kids have to do with it? Maybe your brother's career is more interesting to your sister? I really don't see what the offense is here. Don't be so sensitive.

Depends on the context of the speech - did he influence her career choice (medicine, engineering, etc)? I think I need more context to understand why she only focused on his career.

I recently attended an event for my younger sister. She acknowledged my brother's career in a speech, but said nothing about mine. I'm a full-time working mom with two kids. My other sister who stays home with her kids was also annoyed by the comment. I can't decide whether to say something to my younger sister (single, in her early 30's). Or just ignore now and hope she gets more of a clue in future. Thoughts?
