can you explain what the Ha ha means…as a current parent I am perplexed.
I never said WES is taking applications for 2014/2015, the poster is looking for the following year.

YES, WES takes 6th grade applicants.
The school is N-8. I know several people who have entered in 5th or 6th.
It is a religious school, but not directly associated with a parish, and has students from all types of faiths. It is worth a look. I mention it based on the description of your child.
Not sure what the hahaha is directed at, but I am happy to answer any questions you may have about the school.
Look at the 8th grade placements…see if you recognize any schools you would consider for high school for your child….the school has worked for our children and our entire family.

Yes, you should look at St. Andrew's. It was not on our our first list b/c we did not want any religious schools, but we gave it a shot and it has worked out great for this Jewish family. The formal religion piece is fairly light -- and is defined to include community service, philosophy, social action, justice, etc. in addition to learning some basics about all judeo-christian faiths, and indeed in a comparative religion course our oldest had an intro to eastern religions as well. More importantly, it seems to ground the school a bit.

St. Andrews Episcopal (I know you said no religious but it is fairly watered down)
You could also look at WES and possibly Norwood for 6-8 and get your bearings for HS. Would you give more feel for what type of HS would work well.

Given what you're looking for, I'd recommend considering mixed gender schools, not all-boys schools.

DS will be in 5th grade next year and we plan to send him to private for 6th - 12th grades. He is smart but not off the chart smart (96th perc wisc-iv), funny, enjoys sports but is not especially athletic, could use some extra attention/encouragement to shine, and probably would do better in a collaborative rather than ultra competitive environment as he's prone to anxiety. DC and MD schools only - no religious schools or at least very watered down ones. We have some schools in mind to visit in the fall but I'd love suggestions as I'm sure there are some not on my radar. Thanks in advance for guidance for we parents who are new to the process.
