OP, thank you for this thread! I was reading the other DC restaurants thread and kept googling each restaurant and becoming highly disappointed after discovering the prices for each place!

Agree with this, but make sure you get the happy hour prices. Once you add up all of the small plates you need to get a decent size meal at the regular dinner prices you're paying a premium.

Not to eat in, but my favorite cheap food (like starving student food) is Julia's Empanadas.
Favorite sandwiches are the New Orleans Po' Boy Shop, or Bub & Pop's on M.
Favorite counter'n'sit is Teaism Penn Quarter.
