No. I work in a hospital and obviously we never close. So any snow days I take to be home with the kids are vacation days - though most of the time DH works from home and I am one of the crazy drivers heading out when the newscasters are yelling to stay home.

As someone who has a loved one who has been frequently hospitalized, I have to tell you how much I greatly appreciate it. Fingers crossed no more snow.

My office does close, but not nearly as often as the government (only 2 full days this past winter, plus several more 10 am openings). All people on my team have laptops, and we are expected to log in and/or make up any time lost at some other time. As someone else said, the amount of work and any deadlines are not adjusted.

We are reminded to take our computers home with us. If the Feds close, we close. But many people still go in. Unless you are in a jam for childcare, you are expected to put in a full day from home. If you have kids, then you do the best you can.

Office typically closes when OPM does. I'm still expected to telework which isn't as productive since the kids are normally home too. But my company is overall fairly flexible and I just need to get my work done. If I don't get much done on a snow day it's up to me to figure out how/when to get the work done.

We follow OPM. We are not required to work from home on those days, but most people are accessible. I will answer emails that need an immediate reply, but I don't log in and work on projects.

We never close for any weather issues. You either go into office, telework or take leave. If your client doesn't allow teleworking and you don't coordinate with corporate for other work to do, you basically have to take leave

It definitely closes. There are some people who have capacity for telework but it's not everyone and if you don't, you're not expected to check email from home or anything. We've had 3 snow days this year, plus an early dismissal day, plus 2 late starts!

We get a free day when our office closes for snow.

We are expected to telework if "able." Lets just say some take a looser translation than others. But what it comes down to is - if you have work that needs done ASAP, you get your work done. If you don't, no one is going to notice if don't work that day.

We never close for snow. Whenever a storm is expected, we are advised to bring our laptops home and we're allowed to work from home with our supervisors approval. I live pretty close to the office and usually about 4 of us show up when it snows (I usually show up unless daycare is also closed). We're also expected to work from home if the power goes out at the office (even though we can't VPN) or if our power is out at home (not really sure how that is supposed to work except for responding to emails via phone). Just curious, if your company/ position allows for telework, do you ever close for snow?
